Agora Data Co-Founder, President, and Chief Operating Officer Matt Burke recently joined the Auto Remarketing Podcast with Senior Editor Nick Zulovich to discuss his new role as President of the National Automotive Finance Association (NAF Association), the organization’s 30-year legacy, and the importance of collaboration within the auto finance industry.
A Family Legacy in the NAF Association
During the interview, Matt reflected on the unique connection his family has with the NAF Association. His father, Steve Burke, was one of the organization’s founding members 30 years ago, helping establish what has become one of the industry’s leading educational and networking associations. Today, Matt has the opportunity to continue that legacy as the association’s newly installed president.
Looking back, Matt said one of the most important lessons he learned was the value of giving back to the industry and building something that serves the broader auto finance community.

From First-Time Attendee to Association President
Matt’s journey with the NAF Association began in 2014 when he attended his first conference.
What started as an opportunity to learn from industry veterans quickly evolved into deeper involvement through conferences, educational events, and leadership positions within the organization.
Over the years, Matt served on the board and held roles including Treasurer, Secretary, and Vice President before becoming President of the association.
The Importance of Best-Practice Sharing
One of the key themes of the podcast conversation was the importance of collaboration within the automotive finance industry.
Matt explained that meaningful growth happens when industry leaders share ideas, learn from one another, and continually challenge themselves to improve. He compared the concept to racing cars with his father—an activity they enjoy together—where each driver pushes the other to perform at a higher level.
According to Matt, best-practice sharing is not about giving away competitive advantages. It’s about elevating the industry as a whole and helping organizations stay focused on innovation, operational excellence, and long-term success.
